Sandy Springs is located in Fulton County, Georgia, 12 miles North of Atlanta. It is named for the sandy springs that still exist in the city as a protected historic site. The Chattahoochee River flows for some 30 miles along Sandy Springs’ western and northern borders.
Sandy Springs is Georgia's eighth-largest city. It is the second-largest of the three principal cities of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta area.
